Daisy Ridley shares her thoughts on a possible romance between the two characters in the upcoming 'Star Wars: Episode IX'.
“I haven’t spoken to J.J. but I am, I did a film this year that isn’t romantic. I think it’s wonderful to have relationships that are not romantic. I don’t think in films you always need a romantic relationship and I think friend relationships can be romantic in their gestures and their intimacy and all of that. I think — hopefully — if Rey and Poe get to have some scenes together and stuff, that there will be intimacy. I think it doesn’t — for me — it doesn’t have to be romantic love.”
While Ridley is seemingly shooting down the idea of the romance between the two character, she’s also seemingly shooting down the idea that these characters “need” romance when it comes to their stories which I couldn’t agree with more. And if there’s anything we learned from The Last Jedi, we shouldn’t go into the next Star Wars film expecting anything.
