Director Ridley Scott is still interested in the possibility that we could see a younger version of Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley in an Alien prequel.
While Alien: Covenant wasn’t exactly the biggest hit in the franchise’s history, it seems to have been successful enough that Fox is still willing to move forward with more installments in the franchise. Director Ridley Scott explains that there’s one thing he’d really like to see in order to tie the new movies back to the originals: a younger version of his original protagonist, Ellen Ripley.
A fan recently got a few minutes to talk with Ridley Scott and shared his interview via Instagram. Said fan asked Scott about whether or not he was still interested in bringing Sigourney Weaver back to play a younger version of Ellen Ripley (something he stated could be done by digitally de-aging the actress), and he responded with the following:
Alien: Covenant is still playing in theaters. The movie’s cast includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Guy Pearce, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco.
