‘Power Rangers’: Rita Repulsa Concept Art From Max Landis Pitch Revealed

Newly-unveiled concept art from the Max Landis Power Rangers pitch puts the spotlight on the villainous Rita Repulsa.

Excitement seems to be building all the time for the Power Rangers reboot. Some of the more consistent images released by the studio have been those of Elizabeth Banks as the Rangers’ arch nemesis, Rita Repulsa. Much of the design for the new film deviates from the original source material and the look of the new Repulsa is no different, with many of the famous elements of the characters design missing in this new interpretation.

It was also well known that screenwriter Max Landis pitched to pen the reboot of the beloved 90s TV show. The Landis version was ultimately passed on, but some concept art he commissioned by Matt Frank shows a more monstrous version of Repulsa and could indicate the tone of Landis’ version of the Power Rangers. Frank had the following to say upon releasing the concept art.

“Max Landis approached me back in 2013 to do some concept art for #PowerRangers when he was doing a script treatment, I had other obligations at the time and could only do a quick Rita, so I pulled from his concept of the ‘ancient evil’ and made a kind of ‘Xeno-Rita’ – enjoy!”

Here’s the official synopsis for the Power Rangers movie:

But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
