With the highly-anticipated sequel introducing the characters Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beets) for the first time, fans are excited to see how Deadpool interacts with those two – particularly Cable. Seeing both Reynolds and Brolin share the screen will certainly be incredibly entertaining.
Rob Liefeld, creator of Deadpool expressed his excitement for Brolin’s role as Cable when he spoke to Comicbook.com about Deadpool 2. He also compared the dynamic between Deadpool and Cable to another popular cinematic duo:
“He’s such a great actor, that’s where it starts, and gravitas, and who else really is going to hold their ground with Ryan as Wade/Deadpool. That is energy unbridled, and so you’ve gotta hold your ground. When I see the two of them I’m like “It’s going to be comic book’s equivalent to Rush Hour, and I don’t know if comic fans are ready for it. I think it’s going to be great.”
The Rush Hour trilogy was directed by X-Men: The Last Stand’s Brett Ratner. Those films were made famous by the chemistry between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Knowing how comedic the first film was, perhaps Liefeld’s comments regarding Deadpool 2 hint at a great dynamic between Deadpool and Cable that will bring in quite a few laughs from the audience.
