Avengers: Endgame Theory Explains Robert Downey Jr Sacrifices Himself To Save Other Half Of Humanity

A new Avengers: Endgame theory predicts an emotional journey for Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), aka Iron Man.

Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters next month and will see the return of many of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to the big screen. Avengers: Infinity War left the entire universe in a bad place after Thanos (Josh Brolin) completed his nefarious plan of harnessing the power of the Infinity Gauntlet to cut the universe’s population in half. Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man wasn’t one of the casualties but he did have to watch many of the unlucky heroes disintegrate, including Peter Parker (Tom Holland), aka Spider-Man.

Many fans have been speculating for months if any additional heroes will die in Avengers: Endgame and Robert Downey Jr. is seen to some as one of the most obvious choices to have to give some huge sacrifice since he’s been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, since 2008’s Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreau. No official announcement regarding the exit of Robert Downey Jr. from the MCU has been released but this theory on Reddit from user Conall1992 makes a solid case for why Iron Man might have to make the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame. Check out the full fan theory in the post below.

Before the highly-anticipated MCU team-up film hits the big screen, Captain Marvel will introduce fans to Brie Larson’s titular superhero, who was teased during the end credits scene for Avengers: Infinity War. Captain Marvel premieres in theaters next week.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Avengers: Endgame as soon as more information becomes available. Do you think Robert Downey Jr. will officially leave the MCU after the film premieres in April? Which other heroes do you think will die by the end of the film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.

“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”

Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters on April 26, 2019.
