It may not come as a surprise, but Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark are very similar characters for DC and Marvel. They both are geniuses, they have a lot of money, they have power suits and they’re also leading a team of superheroes. Well, digital artist, Bosslogic noticed that and created this sweet fan art depicting Robert Downey Jr as Ben Affleck’s Batman for the DCEU. Check it out below!
On one hand, since Ben Affleck left the DCEU some weeks ago, the internet has been actively fan casting the next Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ 2021 film The Batman. It’s safe to say that Ben Affleck has been one of the most beloved iterations of the Caped Crusader, even after the cast announcement for Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice was heavily criticized. Ben Affleck’s interpretation of an old and rugged Batman stuck with fans and critics alike, making it a true challenge for the next actor to play Bruce Wayne. Ben Affleck didn’t fit with Matt Reeves’ The Batman simply because the director wanted a younger version of the Caped Crusader.
On the other hand, last time we saw Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark was during Avengers: Infinity War. Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man was sorely defeated by Thanos on his home planet, Titan, and was left with Nebula to rot after most of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange vanished in front of them due to Thanos acquiring all six Infinity Stones. According to the first Avengers: Endgame trailer, Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark is drifting around in the universe waiting for a miracle to save him. It’s not clear whether Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark will survive the events of Avengers: Endgame, but it’s not feasible that Matt Reeves would be interested in him to play the next Batman due to the fact that he needs a young actor for the role.
How do you think Robert Downey Jr looks replacing Ben Affleck as Batman in the DCEU? Sound off in the comment section down below!
