Robert Downey Jr. Closes Deal To Join ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Hot off the heals of Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: Civil War, it looks like a big character from the MCU will be joining Spider-Man: Homecoming. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. has closed a deal and will be bringing Tony Stark/ Iron Man to the cast of the spidey solo film.

This marks Robert Downey Jr.’s second renegotiation to play Iron Man. The first was when he re-upped to join the casts of Captain America: Civil War and  Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. Details are slim to none on this deal so it could be very likely that Downey JR could have added a few more films to his contract.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.  Zendaya Coleman, Tony Revolori and Laura Harrier will star in undisclosed roles.  Micheal Keaton is rumored to join the cast as a villain. Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 7th, 2017.
