Robert Pattinson Dodges ‘The Batman’ Questions At Cannes Film Festival

Robert Pattinson is refusing to answer questions about The Batman at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Last week, Robert Pattinson emerged as the frontrunner to replace Ben Affleck in The Batman. Warner Bros. has yet to officially confirm the casting, but the actor is currently at the Cannes Film Festival for his new film The Lighthouse. According to IndieWire, Pattinson is already being asked about the rumors, but he’s refusing to commment, saying that he’s only there to promote his latest project.

“He talked to Quentin Tarantino at the Vanity Fair party at the Eden Roc Hotel du Cap and had prepared a pat answer for any press queries about his pending deal on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” “I am only answering questions about ‘The Lighthouse,'” he said, smiling.”

Robert Pattinson is said to be the frontrunner for the role ahead of X-Men star Nicholas Hoult. Production on The Batman is expected to begin in late 2019 or early 2020.

Former Bruce Wayne Ben Affleck was originally set to write and direct The Batman. He eventually stepped down and handed the duties to Matt Reeves, who’s been attached to the movie since February 2017. Nearly a year later, Ben Affleck revealed that he had decided to hang up the cape and cowl, allowing Reeves to look for a younger Batman.

Plot details for the DC Films project are currently under wraps. It’s said to revolve around a young Bruce Wayne and Matt Reeves has previously confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.

Matt Reeves’  The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern CorpsBlack AdamThe Suicide SquadNightwingSupergirlPlastic Man and New Gods.

The Batman is set to open in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the project.
