Robert Pattinson Says Jennifer Lopez Would Be A ‘Great’ Batman

The Batman star Robert Pattinson said Hustlers star Jennifer Lopez would be a great Caped Crusader.

Robert Pattinson is set to become the latest actor to portray Batman in a live-action film when the suits for the new film from director Matt Reeves. During Variety’s recent episode of Actors on Actors, Robert Pattinson and Hustlers star Jennifer Lopez discussed the former’s upcoming take on Batman and why he opted to join a superhero franchise after seemingly moving away from them after working on the Twilight films.

Robert Pattinson told Jennifer Lopez that he sees Batman as a disturbed character and was always interested in Batman’s struggle with whether “he’s that great or not.” In response, Jennifer Lopez told Robert Pattinson she believes he will be great as Batman due to the character’s dark persona:

“I think you’ll be a great Batman. An awesome Batman! Seriously, because he’s a dark character.”

Robert Pattinson replied to Jennifer Lopez’s with, “You would be as well!” The idea of playing Batman didn’t seem too out there for Jennifer Lopez, who responded to Robert Pattinson’s comment by saying, “Huh? I could be Batman? Why not!”

Full plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
