Robert Pattinson Says He ‘Absolutely Can’t Talk’ About ‘The Batman’ Role

Robert Pattinson is remaining tight-lipped regarding his possible involvement in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

The former Twilight actor has yet to break his silence since it was reported last week that he would be replacing Ben Affleck as the next Batman in the upcoming standalone film from Matt Reeves. Whether or not Robert Pattinson has signed on for the project yet remains a mystery as Warner Bros. has yet to make an official announcement. But one thing is for sure which is that Robert Pattinson himself is not yet ready to give up whether or not he’ll be the next actor to don the cape and cowl.

Speaking with GALA Magazine, Robert Pattinson was quick to shut down the question after being asked about taking on the role of the next Batman:

GALA: What can you tell us about being chosen to be the next Batman?

R.P.: I’m sorry, but I absolutely can’t talk about that.

Plot details for Matt Reeves’ The Batman remain under wraps, however, rumors have pointed to a previous version of the script once featuring Ben Affleck bookending the film as his current Batman while the film introduced a younger version of the DC superhero. Reports have suggested that Warner Bros. is looking to cast an actor in his mid-twenties to early thirties. Robert Pattinson himself is 33. In addition, the film is also rumored to feature The Penguin as well as a rogues gallery of Batman villains including Catwoman.

Matt Reeves delivered the latest draft revision of the script in April. The only known information is that Reeves’ script is not based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will also emphasize Batman as the World’s greatest detective more than previous films have shown the Caped Crusader before.

So what do you think? Is Robert Pattinson a good choice to play the next Batman? Is there another actor you would rather see take on the role other than Robert Pattinson? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New GodsNightwing, and DC’s Birds of Prey spin-off titled Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) starring Margot Robbie.

The DCEU continues forward with Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
