The Rock Teases Idris Elba’s ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Character As An ‘Icon’

The Rock took to social media to praise his Hobbs & Shaw co-star Idris Elba and let fans know the man is creating an iconic villain for the Fast and Furious spinoff.

The highly anticipated spinoff sees the unlikely pairing of Johnson’s Hobbs and Statham’s Shaw after the franchise breakouts discovered they had solid chemistry in The Fate of the Furious. But it appears that these two characters coming together are just the tip of the iceberg in this one. The Rock has stated that Idris Elba, who plays the villain in the film, is one of the worst evildoers in the entire franchise, and that’s saying something since this is the ninth installment within the street racing heist-filled shared universe.

You can check out the post below:

Idris Elba is a powerhouse on screen and apparently is packing one serious Muy Thai elbow if you ever try to un-cancel the apocalypse or thwart his villainous plan. Elba has played some great good guys and bad guys throughout his career and the man is no stranger to making things happen in big franchise films. The Rock’s assessment is hard to argue and fans everywhere are in for a treat when they see the wrath of Elba’s elbow on the Rock’s face when the spinoff hits theaters next year.

Are you excited to see what kind of villain the great Idris Elba has in store for fans when Hobbs & Shaw releases in theaters? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Hobbs & Shaw is being directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2) from a script written by franchise veteran Chris Morgan. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Seven Bucks Productions’ Hiram Garcia are producing the film.

“A spinoff of The Fate of the Furious, focusing on Johnson’s US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs forming an unlikely alliance with Statham’s Deckard Shaw.”

The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Vanessa Kirby, Eddie Marsan, Eiza Gonzalez and Idris Elba.

Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw will hit theaters August 2, 2019.
