Much of this rumor stems from a photo that Anthony and Joe Russo posted on their official Instagram in September, in which the caption tells viewers to “look hard”. Many noticed that two objects seemingly form two letter A’s. Many took this photo as a hint about what the title could be, with some speculating that it may be Avengers: Assemble, but that title was already the one chosen for 2012’s The Avengers in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The rumor claims that these two A’s really point to Avengers: Annihilation.
Just imagine how cool of a subtitle Annihilation could be for not just the follow-up to Infinity War but the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008’s Iron Man. Also, given the now-iconic finale to Infinity War, Annihilation evokes a mysterious and exciting tone for the survivors of Thanos’ snap.
Earlier today, Chris Evans tweeted in commemoration of his final day shooting Avengers 4. Many have speculated that this tweet points at the fact that he is now hanging up the shield, and Captain America may meet his end as a result of the upcoming… Annihilation.
Let’s remember, all of this is just rumors at this point, but what do you think of this potential title? Would Annihilation be a great choice to represent this integral entry? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news in the MCU.
