Runtime For ‘Suicide Squad’ Revealed

There have been rumors about the runtime for the upcoming Suicide Squad with the film’s director David Ayer even debunking a rumor claiming the film clocks in at 100 minutes. Now, it looks like there is a set runtime for the latest entry in the DC Extended Universe, and it’s interestingly light in time compared to past DC movies.

Collider is reporting that the film clocks in at about 130 minutes (2 hours and 10 minutes) with credits. This make the movie shorter than both Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – both of which have clocked in close to two and a half hours.

This runtime hopefully plays into the film’s pacing and character dynamics within Task Force X itself as well as the exciting antics that Jared Leto’s Joker will bring to the story. With so many new characters to introduce in this large ensemble, a little over two hours seems like the right amount of time whilst still having the right blend of story and entertainment value for fans to enjoy.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoyue-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, and Adam Beach, Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
