Russo Bros. Adapting ‘Deadly Class’ Comic For TV

It is no secret that the directing duo of Anthony and Joe Russo are quite busy these days. Having just directed the last two Captain America films with The Winter Soldier and Civil War both reaching critical and commercial success, it seems as if they have even more clout to work on whatever they want. Of course, they are just preparing to shoot the upcoming two-part extravaganza known as Avengers: Infinity War, but that is not stopping them from bringing another property to television. Along with the recent announcement that the Russo Bros. are set bringing The Warriors to television, it is now being reported that the duo will now bring the comic series, Deadly Class to the small screen.

The comic’s co-creator/writer Rick Remender is collaborating with the Russo Bros. to bring this series along with Sony Pictures TV. It is set to be targeting the cable networks as well as the streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon. The Deadly Class comics were created by Remender and Wes Craig and was published in 2014. The series is said to be a coming-of-age story that is set to late-1980’s counter culture where a disillusioned adolescent is recruited to a high school dedicated to assassins.

As someone who is unfamiliar with this comic, the premise definitely makes me intrigued to check them out. It also makes me more excited at the prospects of this story being brought to television, with the Russo Bros. no less working on this adaptation as well. What do you guys think of this news? Do you think Deadly Class is ripe for a television series? Would you have preferred a film adaptation? Sound off in the comments below and stay tuned this weekend as we continue to report more exciting news from San Diego Comic Con.
