Today was a big breakthrough for Marvel Studios and the superhero genre as a whole when the 2019 Academy Awards nominations were announced this morning. Avengers: Infinity War scored an single Oscar nomination for best visual effects while Black Panther earned seven- Becoming the first superhero film to ever earn a best picture nomination. Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo expressed their excitement over the Oscar nominations in a recent tweet:

Avengers: Endgame is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
