While it’s unlikely that Marvel will be moving forward with a live-action Squirrel Girl project any time, a few actresses have recently thrown their name into the mix for the role if they did decide to. And if there’s a chance tof seeing Doreen Green make her way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one of these actresses just got a big endorsement from Captain America: Civil War directors Joe & Anthony Russo. Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, promoting the upcoming home video release of Captain America: Civil War, the directing duo enthusiastically replied with the following when asked about their thoughts on Anna Kendrick playing the character.
“It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans.”
Even if we don’t see her in her own series, wouldn’t rule out the chance of meeting the fan-favorite character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. Perhaps we’ll see her pop up on Netflix, much like in the comics, as Luke Cage and Jessica Jones nanny down the line? Hell, maybe there’s even a chance they could find a way to fit her into the recently announced Runaways series over at Hulu.
