In a move worthy of the Merc with the Mouth himself, one fan took it upon themselves to become the owner of the domain names for AvengersEndgame.com and AvengersEndgameMovie.com and redirected both links to Deadpool or Ryan Reynolds-related advertisements and videos. Or at least he did for one of them, because if you go to either one of those URLs right now, you’re redirected to a music video of various scenes from films Ryan Reynolds has starred in, all set to the tune of Britney Spears’ “Toxic.” Observe.
In hindsight, that probably would’ve been genius marketing for the first Deadpool film. But back to the plot, this fan revealed that he would turn over the websites in exchange for something that anyone can easily provide: two tickets to Avengers: Endgame– one for himself an one for the Missus. And then Ryan Reynolds entered the story by sending the fan a set of Aviation headphones, as well as a note that read “This isn’t to say I’m proud of what you did. Just that I happen to love you.” Worthy of Deadpool certainly.
Here, have a look at the fan sharing the gift that he received when he shared it on his Twitter page:
Much like the URL, the fan insisted that he would trade the package for two tickets to Avengers: Endgame. It all comes back to tickets to the follow-up to Infinity War. It remains to be seen if the House of Mouse would acquiesce to this proposal or if they would come up with a different URL for Avengers: Endgame. But one thing’s for sure, it’s definitely a troll move that lines up with what the Merc with the Mouth would do.
What do you think of this maneuver? Had you noticed this beforehand when searching for any additional information on Avengers: Endgame? And do you think the fan will succeed in getting two tickets to the premiere of Avengers: Endgame? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters on April 26, 2019.
