New ‘Sam And Twitch’ Spawn Spin-Off Television Series In Development

The human fan favorites are getting their own show!

A new Spawn television series is in development from Todd McFarlane which will focus on the human characters, Sam and Twitch.

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything new about Todd McFarlane’s planned Spawn film. The film was originally announced back in 2017 with Blumhouse Productions backing the picture and even added Avengers star Jeremey Renner and The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Jamie Fox to the cast. Afterward, however, news on the planned film was hard to come by. The last we heard of the project, McFarlane had teased about big talent being added to the film but nothing seemed to have come from it. Now the direction of the franchise may be moving back into television.

According to Collider, a new television series is in development that will focus on the human characters, Sam and Twitch. The two characters originally appeared in Spawn #1 and investigated many of the crimes that surrounded the protagonist’s activities and quickly became the series’ most popular human characters. Todd McFarlane will be an executive producer for the show for McFarlane Films alongside Sean Canino. Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg will be adapting the project and will also serve as executive producers.

In the planned film, Twitch was set to be played by Jeremey Renner and the majority of the film was said to have been from his point of view. Sam and Twitch were both absent from the 1997 film, Spawn but were major characters in the animated HBO series starring Keith David that came out the same year. It is currently unknown how this series will tie into Todd McFarlane’s plans for the film.
