In an interview with Fandango on Facebook, Jackson revealed that he didn’t know that Captain Marvel, a 90s-set period piece that’s also the earliest point in time where we would have seen the Nick Fury character, would also feature Nick Fury before he lost vision in his left eye. He also mentioned that he looks forward to not having to wear an eyepatch in every single scene:
“I didn’t know that until I read about it online. I’m good – I can work with two eyes. It’ll be easier to learn my lines.”
Jackson also brought up an anecdote about the first day of filming as the character, noting that he actually has an easier time memorizing his lines with both eyes open. Jackson’s full remarks on Captain Marvel can be seen below:
Captain Marvel is set to take flight on March 8, 2019. The movie’s cast includes Brie Larson as Carol Danvers and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Captain Marvel will also be making an appearance in the untitled fourth Avengers movie that will be released on May 3, 2019.
