Samuel L. Jackson Confirmed For ‘Captain Marvel’

The recent rumor suggesting Samuel L. Jackson would be reprising his role as Col. Nick Fury in the upcoming Captain Marvel film is indeed true.

Deadline reports the recent rumor suggesting Samuel L. Jackson would be reprising his role as Col. Nick Fury in the upcoming Captain Marvel film is indeed true.

While the trade hears that Jackson is set to return as Fury, details on his involvement in Marvel’s first female-led superhero film remain a mystery along with the plot itself. The last time Fury was seen on the big screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In the comics, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel was a test pilot who gained super strength and the ability to fly after being caught in an explosion with a Kree device. While Academy-award winning actress Brie Larson will be introduced as Marvel’s biggest female hero next year in Avengers: Infinity War, her solo feature has been confirmed to be an origin story that will focus on the character of Carol Danvers and who she is instead of her super powers.

Mississippi Grind directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are set to helm the project which will begin filming in February of 2018. The script has been written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Oscar nominee Meg LeFauve (Inside Out).

Captain Marvel is slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
