Today on Sandberg’s Instagram, the Shazam! director recreated the distracted boyfriend meme, but this time, Shazam! is the object of Superman’s attention, while the Gotham Bat, who already had his opportunity and then some to get the Kryptonian’s attention all throughout Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, remains disappointed. Accompanying this photo is the caption “Went to the toy store.” Is it entirely possible that Sandberg merely wants to show off some new toys ahead of the upcoming reshoots for Shazam!? Sure. Is it not equally fun to imagine the idea that either Bruce or Clark could show up in some capacity? Absolutely.
Nonetheless, have a look at the Shazam! director making Billy Batson the object of Superman’s eyes, thus drawing him away from Batman, in the Instagram post below:
With this additional photography only lasting a few weeks and Henry Cavill currently overseas preparing for The Witcher series on Netflix, this would no doubt get many wondering if there could be an appearance of Clark Kent popping up in Shazam!, maybe just to tell Billy that he’s won his attention over Batman. Or, perhaps, this is merely David F. Sandberg just showing off his toy collection. Who is to say? Again, there have been many DC toy teases in Sandberg’s past Instagram posts, and it remains to be seen how these will pay off until the film hits theaters next year.
What do you think about all of this? Could this just be the Shazam! director showing off his toy collection? Do you think there’s something beyond that? Let us know in the comments below.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Asher Angel, Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
The film will hit theaters next year on April 5, 2019.
