Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Black Widow’ Might Feature Flashbacks

Black Widow makeup artists Paul Gooch and David White seem to have confirmed flashback scenes with a young version of Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff.

A decade after Scarlett Johansson made her first appearance in the role, Marvel Studios’ Black Widow will finally give Natasha Romanoff the spotlight and explore the character’s past before she joined the Avengers. While it is known that Black Widow will take audiences back in the time to the events between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the makeup artists on the Scarlett Johansson film indicated the feature will also flashback to the titular heroine’s younger days.

During a red carpet interview with Variety at the 2019 Academy Awards, makeup artists Paul Gooch and David White were asked how Black Widow differs from Marvel Studios’ Avengers films. In their response, the duo noted that they are working with actors portraying younger versions of their characters leading the Scarlett Johansson film:

“We’re going back in time to when they were much younger. We have actors playing even younger than they are, the same characters.”
