During a recent interview with Comicbook.com, she was directly asked if the upcoming Black Widow film would be her final film. She responded vaguely with a comment that did not give a definitive answer:
If I survive the shooting of this film, maybe. That’s the most vague answer I could possibly give.
From the look of things, the Black Widow shoot is one grueling experience!
Scarlett Johansson previous outing as Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame ultimately ended with her death. When a decision had to be made over who would sacrifice themselves to obtain the Soul Stone, Scarlett Johansson’s character ultimately took the fall and was not brought back when Bruce Banner reversed Thanos’ snap. But considering that this is a comic book movie franchise, anything is possible!
What do you all make of this? Would you like to see Scarlett Johansson return as Black Widow for another outing in the MCU? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
Full plot details on Black Widow are currently under wraps, though it has been revealed that the film is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and will see Scarlett Johansson’s take on the villainous Taskmaster. The film will also mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of Yelena Belova, the second modern-era character to use the Black Widow title in the comics.
Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Production is currently underway.
Black Widow will be released in theaters on May 1, 2020.
