This news comes after it was announced that Jonah Hill passed on the role of playing either Penguin or The Riddler. Seinfeld star Jason Alexander took this as an opportunity to put himself forward as a potential Penguin for The Batman in a tweet right after the news regarding Jonah Hill broke.

This isn’t the first time that Jason Alexander, best known for his role as George Costanza on the hit 80’s sitcom Seinfeld has championed himself as a villain for The Batman. Earlier last week, he tweeted out sentiments that he would be a capable frontrunner to play Batman villain Egghead, obviously a dig at himself. Maybe the compliments got to him because shortly after that Egghead tweet, he tweeted out how he got quite a few suggestions from Seinfeld fans telling him he could play Penguin.

Seinfeld‘s Jason Alexander is certainly an inspired choice to play Penguin in The Batman, but seeing how he’s considerably older than Robert Pattinson and the recently cast Riddler Paul Dano, he would stick out like a sore thumb. Beyond that, Jason Alexander is a comedic staple, and we’re not sure if Matt Reeves and co. would be interested in having a full-on comical rendition of Penguin.

Plot details for the film are still under wraps, though the project starring Robert Pattinson seems to be centered on a younger Caped Crusader as he tackles several of his more traditional enemies such as Paul Dano’s Riddler and Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman. While Warner Bros. is set to restart the character’s story on the big screen, Matt Reeves has confirmed that his film will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic. Matt Reeves’ The Batman is also allegedly the first chapter of a trilogy, much like the Christopher Nolan-directed films with Christian Bale as Batman.
The Batman hits theaters June 25, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news regarding Robert Pattinson, Jason Alexander, Penguin and the future of DC Films.
