A while back, Sharon Stone revealed that she had signed on to appear in an upcoming Marvel movie, but that’s all that she was allowed to say about her involvement with the project at the time. She never even specified whether she was talking about a Marvel Studios or 20th Century Fox production, so speculation about what role that might be and which movie she’ll appear in has been running rampant ever since.
Now we have another small clue about her mystery role and it sounds like she’s playing a superhero. The actress was part of a feature article by AARP alongside Academy Award winner Jane Fonda and Luke Cage actress Alfre Woodard, where it’s revealed that her character has heat-related powers. Here’s the excerpt from the article:
“Meanwhile, Woodard and Stone are about to become very familiar to the highly sought-after comic-book-film crowd: Woodard’s character is a villain in Marvel’s anticipated Netflix series Luke Cage; Stone has been cast as a superhero — she’ll only reveal that her secret power is heat — in a yet-to-be-named movie, also for Marvel.”
Aside from Extremis, we haven’t really seen any other heat-based powers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it would be interesting if she was playing someone like Nikki in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, or perhaps even Clea in Doctor Strange. As for mutants, it would be cool to see her in a role like Selene in the X-Men franchise. What do you guys think? Sound-off your thoughts on the news in the comment section below.
