Shazam Director Spoofs Poster With Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman

Earlier today, a brand new official poster for New Line Cinema and DC Films’ upcoming Shazam! movie was released. It shows off Zachary Levi as the titular superhero alter-ego of young Billy Batson (Asher Angel) blowing some bubblegum, once again playing off of the kid-friendly nature of the upcoming film compared to previous outings featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Now, director David F. Sandberg spoofed the newest theatrical poster by implementing Shazam along with Justice League members Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as seen from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This time, DC’s heroic trinity are also blowing some bubblegum with a potential new recruit to their team. The results are downright hilarious:

Although the futures for both Batman and Superman in the DC Extended Universe are a bit hazy given the fate of Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill’s involvement with the franchise remaining elusive, it is always fun imagining what it would be like to see Levi as Shazam interacting with these larger-than-life heroes.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Honsou.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
