See, one thing fandom is hearing about Shazam! at the moment is that the movie is having some test screenings. Over on Revenge of the Fans in Mario Robles’ latest episode, the scooper revealed some insights he hard heard from people who saw the test screenings. Without being direct about it, he did hint at a mention or allusion to Black Adam out there in the DCEU based on what some saw at a Shazam! test screening:
“Shazam! has teases for the future, and I won’t say whether or not anyone shows up in the flesh or anything like that, but I will say is that there is an allusion, there’s something there that plants Black Adam in your mind in Shazam!“
You can watch Mario Robles discuss the Black Adam allusion in Shazam! in the video below at the 44:00 mark-
Robles drew comparisons between Shazam! and Aquaman, in that James Wan’s film set up Black Manta as an antagonist for a potential Aquaman sequel. The difference being that Black Manta was established and showed up in the first film, but there are no indications at the moment that Dwayne Johnson himself appears in the Shazam! film.
Would you expect there to be an allusion to Black Adam in the Shazam! film? How would you want it done? Also, what are your hopes and expectations for Black Adam whenever he finally appears in the DCEU? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Asher Angel, Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
The film will hit theaters this year on April 5, 2019.
