Based on the trailer shown at San Diego Comic-Con, coupled with what the director has said since then, David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! film will have Easter eggs galore as far as what’s come before it in the DC Extended Universe, such as the Batarang and the magazine cover describing the Black Zero event in Man of Steel. However, there are also nods to the DC film that will come before it and that’s hitting theaters this weekend — James Wan’s Aquaman. And unlike most of us, Sandberg has had an opportunity to see the film already and recently shared his thoughts.
Taking to his Twitter last night, David F. Sandberg praised James Wan’s DC film, stating “Man, #Aquaman was epic! Some of the most spectacular action and visuals ever!” Here, have a look at Sandberg praising the Aquaman film in the tweet below.
Given how much Sandberg has entertained fans on social media with talk and jokes about Shazam! and mentioning other DC films, and Aquaman’s costume, just to name one, we’ll have to see if there will be direct Aquaman Easter eggs in the Shazam! film and if the events of the Aquaman movie might inform anything in Shazam!, similar to how Suicide Squad references Superman’s death in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, given how both of those were released in the same year and just a few months apart.
But based on Sandberg’s words, does this make you any more excited or interested in the upcoming Aquaman film? And do you hope that there will be any Aquaman-related references or Easter eggs in the Shazam! film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more Shazam! updates.
Aquaman arrives in theaters this Friday. Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
