‘Shazam!’ Director Reveals He Would Like A Crossover With Spider-Man

Shazam! director David F. Sandberg revealed he would love to see a crossover with a Spider-Man.

Warner Bros. and DC’s plans for the DC Extended Universe include a sequel to Shazam! with director David F. Sandberg returning to the helm. Of course, while it will likely never happen, fans continue to wonder what it might look like if DC’s heroes could cross paths with Marvel characters on screen in the future.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, David F. Sandberg revealed that he would love to see a crossover with Shazam and Spider-Man if given the choice. As Sandberg explained, he is a big fan of Spider-Man, though he is unsure how Shazam would work with the wall-crawler:

“I mean, I’m a big Spider-Man fan. So I mean, that’s the first thing that pops into my head, because I just love Spider-Man. I don’t know how they’d work together.”

Sandberg added that Shazam would be closer in age to Spider-Man considering he is really a young boy assuming the body of an adult superhero.

Here is the official synopsis for Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
