‘Shazam!’ Sneak Peek References Henry Cavill’s Superman

Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s yet another Henry Cavill Superman reference in the latest Shazam sneak peek trailer!

That is right. If you purchase Aquaman, you will get an exclusive first look at Shazam!, the next heroic offering from Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe. This news comes to us courtesy of the official Twitter page for the Aquaman movie.

The account recently shared a quick video advertisement explaining the exclusive offer; however, that was not the only superhero tidbit we got from the ad. Warner Bros. and DC continue to tease that Shazam takes place in the world of the DC Universe feature films and more specifically in the world of Superman as portrayed by Henry Cavill. This time out, Jack Dylan Grazer’s character holds up his camera phone to Shazam, a.k.a. Billy Batson, and tells him “Superman it.”

You can check out the spot for yourself below to see the reference to Henry Cavill’s Superman.

We saw a more direct reference to Henry Cavill’s Superman in the initial Shazam! trailer. The Big Blue Boyscout as embodied by Henry Cavill could briefly be seen adorning the front of a local newspaper. Will the godfather of superheroes actually make an appearance in the Shazam! movie? Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but it would seem fitting after all these tantalizing winks.

Would you like to see Henry Cavill’s Superman make an appearance in Shazam? Let us know in the comments below! In the meantime, here is the synopsis for the film:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas.

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
