When Shazam! was in the midst of filming, fans near the set were able to sneak a few pictures and release them online. The photos gave fans a look at Zachary Levi in the costume pictured above, which divided fans on how they felt about the hero’s first big-screen appearance. Now that posters and trailers have been released for Shazam!, there seems to be a warmer reception from fans who appreciate the bright tone and lower-scale story of the David F. Sandberg-directed superhero origin story.
A new look at promo art from the film is here to get fans pumped ahead of the April release date. The art may look familiar to some but this new hi-res look gives fans possibly the best up-close look at the Shazam! costume yet. Check out the awesome promo art in the Reddit post below.
Shazam! is Zachary Levi’s first foray into the DC Extended Universe but some fans may forget that he had multiple appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Levi starred as Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, in Thor: The Dark World and very briefly in Thor: Ragnarok. From the look of Shazam!, it seems to be a step down in scope from the massive scale of Aquaman but it appears that the film will not fail to deliver in the humor and levity departments.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Honsou.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
