Director David F. Sandberg has previously mentioned that the suit had gone through different changes throughout the course of production, and that some post-production work is still being done to make sure that the Shazam suit is best portrayed onscreen.
Apparently, the suit has been improved upon since the SDCC trailer dropped. According to Giacomo Farci, a trainer for Warner Bros. and DC Films as well as to Dr. Sivana actor Mark Strong commented on an Instagram post that the suit will look closer to how the finished product will be in the next trailer:
Although some have criticized the design of the suit as seen from leaked set photos and the SDCC trailer as a bit too campy, some have also argued in favor of it, saying that it fits the tone that Sandberg and company are going for. After all, it has been constantly mentioned that the Tom Hanks classic Big is a major influence on this film, so the lighthearted look adds to the charm.

Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Djimon Honsou and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana. Here’s the official synopsis:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
