The official theme for Shazam! has hit the internet and it brings back memories of John Williams’ classic Superman theme for Christopher Reeve.
Shazam! has been electrifying the big screen with the debut of Billy Batson and Shazam in the DCEU. The film has received many positive reviews and has now been “certified fresh” by Rotten Tomatoes to add on to the success of the film.
With the film gearing up for its premiere in Hollywood, California tonight, even more content from the film is being released. Audiences and fans can now listen to the official theme for Shazam! composed by William Wallfisch which may bring back memories from Christopher Reeve’s Superman and John Williams’ take on Superman‘s theme. You can listen to Shazam! theme below.
Shazam! has been previously described as Christopher Reeve’s Superman meet Tom Hanks’ Big. Superman has played a big role in the world of comic book films and continues to do so today. There are certain parts in William Wallfisch’s theme that sound very similar to John Williams’ Superman theme according to fans. With a more cheerful and upbeat take on a score for a DC film, Superman appears to play a big part in the film’s inspiration. Superman set a milestone back in 1978 and has not stopped inspiring superhero films to this day, including Shazam!.

Shazam theme reminds me of the Christopher Reeve Superman theme, so upbeat and triumphant. Really looking forward to this movie

Are we stuck in 80/90? Hans Zimmer work for Man of Steel and BvS is pure art for ears, but this reminds me Superman 1978 or one of Harry Potter music themes. Curious how sounds the rest of tracks #Shazam #ReleaseTheSnyderCut #BringBackZack

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
