Shazam! is gearing up to hit theaters as it debuts another sneak peek with a look at Zachary Levi’s titular character learning about his abilities along with Jack Dylan Grazer’s Freddy Freeman. This will be DC’s next project after James Wan’s Aquaman and it appears to be a new take on the universe filled with superheroes like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg and The Flash. With a more lighthearted tone for the film that fits perfectly, the chemistry between the superhero and his friend Freddy Freeman seems to be incredible and you can view more of it in the new trailer below.
The trailer looks great with some new footage and a nod to Batman. In this spot, it appears that the superhero is learning more about his abilities and target practicing. Perhaps Freddy Freeman saw footage of Batman using his Batarangs or other gadgets and thought they could learn from that. With the first trailer featuring a scene with one of Batman’s batarangs and the second trailer featuring merchandise for the character, this may not be the last we hear of Batman. Billy Batson will be learning more about this “Caped Crusader stuff” as audiences will learn more about DC’s new hero, Shazam.
What do you think of this new footage? Are you excited to see other heroes referencing Batman? Are you looking forward to the film? Share your thoughts below!
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
Directed by David F. Sandberg Shazam! stars Asher Angel, Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
