Shortly after the release of Shazam!, Dwayne Johnson offered his congratulations to the creative team behind the film and provided an update on the potential start date of his Black Adam solo film. However, Zachary Levi revealed he may have the perfect replacement in mind to play Black Adam should Dwayne Johnson ever find himself to busy for the role.
When asked which villain he would like to play in both the DC and Marvel Universe, Zachary Levi chose Deadpool for the first option and revealed he thinks it would be cool to play Black Adam if Dwayne Johnson exits the role. According to Zachary Levi, replacing Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam would give him the chance to play a dark version of Shazam:
“For a minute, I thought if The Rock was ever like, ‘You know what? I’m too busy and I’m not gonna play Black Adam. I was like, ‘You know what I could do?… They’re supposed to be twinsies anyway, just different stylists. That could be kind of cool. You know, cause I’d get to play the really dark version of myself essentially.”

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now playing in theaters.
