Aquaman is slaying the competition at the box office right now and fans don’t have to wait much longer for the next installment of the DC Extended Universe. In April, Zachary Levi stars in Shazam! as the titular comic book hero. The actor revealed in a recent interview that he thinks Shazam fit in perfectly with the Justice League.
Zachary Levi was talking with Total Film magazine about the film when he was asked about Shazam teaming up with the Justice League. This is what the actor had to say about the topic.
“That would be amazing!”
Zachary Levi then explained why Shazam would be a great addition to the team and specifically who he’d click with.
“Shazam would fit. The person he’d be closest to is The Flash because of their youth and humour. And we’ve gotta have Shazam and Superman interactions. They’re, like, the same, but totally different…”
Shazam! isn’t the only DC Extended Universe film hitting the big screen in 2019. In October, the highly-anticipated villain origin story Joker debuts with Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role. Wonder Woman 1984 was originally set to premiere in November but has since been pushed back to June 2020.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Shazam! as soon as more information becomes available. Which Justice League member are you most excited to see interact with Zachary Levi’s DC icon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
Here’s the official synopsis for DC’s Shazam!:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019, and will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
