‘Shazam!’: Zachary Levi Reprises Role In ‘Robot Chicken’ Sketch

New Line Cinema and DC Films are getting closer to introducing their newest film Shazam! to the rest of the world. A number of critics and some lucky fans have had the opportunity to see the film before it opens in April, and the buzz has been thunderous on this one. With the hype and marketing campaign continuing to ramp up for the Zachary Levi-led film, we have perhaps the most interesting promotional material for the film yet in the form of a tie-in with Seth Green’s popular Adult Swim comedy, Robot Chicken.

Despite the not-so-family-friendly nature of Robot Chicken, this Shazam! promo manages to parody the film with the signature humor of Robot Chicken while also working well at capturing the tone of it – albeit, through an even more heightened comedic tone.

But what makes this Shazam! Robot Chicken promo stand out is the fact that both Zachary Levi and Jack Dylan Grazer lend their voices to Shazam and Freddy Freeman respectively. Even in the stop motion animation medium of Robot Chicken, both actors stay true to how their characters were portrayed in the live-action film.

You can check out the hilarious Robot Chicken promo down below:

What did you think of this tie-in with Robot Chicken? Are you excited to see the marketing campaign for Shazam! continue to ramp up along with more exciting appearances from Zachary Levi? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news in the DC Extended Universe.

Here is the synopsis for Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Honsou.

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
