Because we have DEADPOOL, GAMBIT, and THE NEW MUTANTS, which are all equally important to us. With the mainline movies I would love to keep doing what we’re doing, which is each time trying to innovate and keep telling compelling stories. If it were up to me we get to keep making movies with Fassbender, McAvoy, Jen Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, and obviously the new cast as well. That’s the hope, and it’s something that occupies the vast majority of my time these days.
It’s something that I’m constantly in conversation with Lauren Shuler Donner, and Hutch Parker, and the other producers of the movies, and the studio about we really are trying to create something that the studio didn’t always do, which is we’re trying to create a larger tapestry that all of these movies can be part of. You can have the experience of watching just one of them and it can be a satisfying 2 hour or however long experience, but if you watch all of the pieced together it’s an even deeper experience and understanding of the characters.
When the outlet asked Kinberg if he knew what was in store and what would come next, he replied that he does “know how they’re going to come out and the way we want to make them” but wouldn’t reveal any details regarding their order because “there would be some surprises left”.
Recently there’s been a lot of chatter about the possibility of Laura Kinney aka ‘X-23’ appearing in one of their upcoming films, something that a scene in Apocalypse might just hint at. The outlet proceeded to ask Kinberg about this one but he’s keeping his lips sealed and stated that he will “plead the Fifth. I’m sorry. There’s a few ones that I will plead the Fifth on. I’m usually pretty forthcoming but that’s one I will say, to be determined.” Sound off with your thoughts on Kinberg’s comments in the section below.
