Major Details Surrounding Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi & Mandarin Revealed

Spoilers!

Newly-surfaced Marvel Legends figures reveal some major details regarding Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, the “real” Mandarin, and other characters in the film.

Potential spoilers for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ahead!

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is still months out, and Marvel fans still await a proper first look at the film. Given all of Shang-Chi‘s delays, key details are starting to come out via merchandising that was supposed to be on store shelves months ago. Some more Marvel Legends figures found their way online recently, and they offer some pretty interesting details about Shang-Chi and his relationship with the “real” Mandarin.

Based on the toy packaging shared by Trey Carvell on Twitter, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi was trained by the Ten Rings organization since he was a child and is the son of the Mandarin. The Marvel Legends figures also tease the Ten Rings role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date and some information about Xialing and Death Dealer. You can check out the figures’ images, which also offer a great look at their suits below.

Introduced in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, Shang-Chi is a skilled martial artist raised in an isolated compound located in China and trained by his father Fu Manchu, a Chinese crimelord and immortal sorcerer who repeatedly attempted to conquer the world. When Shang-Chi was finally allowed to venture into the outside world to do his father’s bidding, he learned about his father’s evil ways and faked his own death before embarking on a mission to take down Fu Manchu’s criminal empire.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Ronny Chieng, and Dallas Liu.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled to hit theaters on September 3, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest developments regarding the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
