‘Sin City’ TV Series In Development; Frank Miller & Robert Rodriguez Attached

Frank Miller has struck a deal with Legendary TV to adapt his popular comic Sin City into a TV series, with him and Robert Rodriguez expected to executive produce.

Deadline reports that a deal is close for Robert Rodriguez, whom co-directed 2005’s Sin City and its sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Stephen L’Heureux, one of the producers for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Silenn Thomas, head of Frank Miller’s production company will serve as producers on the new series.

According to Deadline, the deal is that a first season for the new Sin City series would be guaranteed, with the intention for it to be available for a network and/or streaming platform. The deal also includes a “hard-R” animated series for a prequel to Sin City. 

Frank Miller, one of the most acclaimed comic book writers in the industry created the Sin City neo-noir comics. The first Sin City story was published in 1991 in Dark Horse Presents Fifth Anniversary Special. Sin City would continue in Dark Horse Presents #51-62 serialized in 13 parts.

Frank Miller teamed up with Robert Rodriguez to direct Sin City (along with “Special Guest Director” Quentin Tarantino). The film centered on interwoven stories with an ensemble cast that included the likes of Jessica Alba, Benicio del Toro, Brittany Murphy, Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, and Elijah Wood. The 2005 film grossed $155.8 million worldwide and even screened at the Cannes Film Festival in competition and winning the Technical Grand Prize for its “visual shaping.”
