Skylar Grey Reacts To DC’s Aquaman Movie Getting Snubbed At The Oscars

Skylar Grey has a lot to say about Aquaman being snubbed at the is years Oscars.

The full list of Oscars nominations was released earlier today, and while there were plenty of deserving spots on it, there were plenty of snubs from the Oscars, Aquaman being one of them. Despite its gorgeous visual effects work and an original song by recording artist Skylar Grey (“Everything I Need”), the film was nowhere to be found in the nominations for either Best Visual Effects or Best Original Song respectively. And now Skylar Grey herself has made her thoughts on Aquaman’s snubbing known.

Via her Instagram story, Skylar Grey took snapshots of The Hollywood Reporter‘s article showing the nominations for both categories.  Take a look below:

As you can see, the first part of Skylar Grey’s IG story featured the songwriter putting “Where’s our Aquaman song?????” @hollywoodreporter #oscars over the nominees for Best Original Song followed by a crying emoji. Best Visual Effects followed, over which the songwriter wrote “Nothing for Aquaman? (crying emoji) You had my vote @creepypuppet”, the IG account of the film’s director James Wan. The last part of the story showed Grey’s snapshot of her mother’s quote: They screwed up! But I award it to YOU (heart emoji) . Over this, Grey posted “Thanks mom! Your vote is the one that matters!”

While it is disappointing that the Academy didn’t recognize Aquaman in either of these categories, it’s assuring to know that this hasn’t deterred those involved with the film, like Skylar Grey, from being proud of their finished product. That goes for all of those snubbed at this year’s Oscars.

Do you think Aquaman deserved to win in either category? Let us know in the comments!!

Here’s the official synopsis for Aquaman:
