A Solo Hulk Movie 'Will Never Happen,' Says Mark Ruffalo. The actor is slated to appear in 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Avengers: Infinity War'.
Ever since he made his appearance in The Avengers as the Hulk/Bruce Banner, fans have been wondering why Mark Ruffalo can’t get his own solo movie. Appearing at the D23 Expo this weekend to help debut some Avengers: Infinity War footage, Ruffalo answered the question when speaking with Variety, anticipating that he would be asked.
“I just want to make one thing perfectly clear today: a standalone Hulk movie will never happen. Because Universal has the rights to the standalone Hulk movie and for some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel. And they don’t want to make money.”
Don Cheadle, who was also at the D23 Expo alongside Mark Ruffalo, joked that a standalone movie starring Ruffalo as the Hulk would probably be “terrible” anyway. You can watch the video interview below.
On the other hand, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige concedes that a standalone Hulk film is not outside the realm of possibility. Feige says there are no plans for one right now, but that he has a “very strict never say never policy.”
Ruffalo will next be seen in this year’s Thor: Ragnarok before appearing once again as the character in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
Anthony and Joe Russo’s Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, starring Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Pratt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautisa, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Cobie Smulders, Benicio Del Toro, Benedict Wong, Danai Gurira, and Josh Brolin, is slated to open in theaters on Friday, May 4, 2018.
