The teaser trailer for 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' includes several notable homages to the films of Star Wars legends George Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan.
One of the references found in the trailer is a recreation of one of the scenes from George Lucas’ American Graffiti, a film that Howard himself appeared in. The scene from the Solo trailer with Han and Qi’ra on an intergalactic joy ride mirrors a shot from American Graffiti that just so happens to feature Harrison Ford.
There’s another quick scene in the trailer where Han is about to draw his blaster, and while the composition of that shot hearkens back to a lot of Western films, Lawrence Kasdan’s Silverado is one that springs to mind. Kasdan co-wrote the Solo screenplay along with his son Lawrence Kasdan, and he’s also worked on the screenplays of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
