‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Redesign Gives The Speedster The Look He Deserves

A digital artist has created an awesome Sonic design for Paramount’s upcoming live-action film that gives the blue hedgehog the look he deserves.

The first promotional photos and official trailer for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog film from Paramount Pictures caused an uproar from fans who were displeased with the design for the beloved SEGA icon. The outcry prompted the studio to redesign Sonic and push back the release date of the film in order to give the animators enough time to complete their work.

While Paramount has yet to officially reveal the new design for Sonic, fans have already taken it upon themselves to share the look they believe the iconic character truly deserved for his highly-anticipated cinematic debut. Now, digital artist Eigenberger has shared a new redesign and it more closely resembles the video game look for Sonic.

Check out the fan-made Sonic redesign in the post below.

Paramount’s live-action Sonic the Hedgehog film is set to follow Small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski (played by Westworld actor James Marsden) and the titular Hedgehog as they embark on a road trip in a race against time to recover the blue hedgehog’s rings before the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Ben Schwartz provides the voice for Sonic.

Do you think this design is better than the previous live-action look for Sonic? Sound-off your thoughts in the comments!

Here’s the synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog:

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster video game franchise from Sega that centres on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination.

Directed by Jeff Fowler from a script written by Patrick Casey, Josh Miller, and Oren Uziel, Sonic the Hedgehog features the voice talent of Ben Schwartz as the titular character and stars James Marsden as sheriff Tom Wachowski, Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, Neal McDonough as US Army Major Bennington, Tika Sumpter as Mrs. Wachowski, Lee Majdoub as Stone, and Frank C. Turner as Crazy Carl. Adam Pally, Natasha Rothwell, Debs Howard, and Elfina Luk also star in undisclosed roles.

Sonic the Hedgehog opens on February 14, 2020. Stay tuned for more updates!
