Sonic the Hedgehog has been a major icon in the video game industry for decades and this year he’s finally getting his own live-action movie on the big screen. X-Men and Hop actor James Marsden will star alongside the CGI Sonic in his first appearance on the big screen ever. Video game movies tend to stir controversy from fans and moviegoers alike and Sonic the Hedgehog is no exception.
Fans have finally gotten their first look at the live-action/CGI hybrid Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz, and so far it seems that many fans have taken issue with the film’s character design, especially the eyes that seem more human and less as they appeared in the animated series or video game franchise. The Hedgehog’s iconic shoes being altered also upset some fans online. A talented fan has taken to Reddit to correct the character design and it’s very impressive. Check out the incredible edit in the post below.
Ben Schwartz is best known for his hilarious appearances on the series Parks and Recreation. Some fans might remember though that he was actually part of the team that helped bring BB8 to life in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The comedian teamed with Saturday Night Live icon Bill Hader to create the sounds used as BB8’s voice in the film.
