Sony Pictures decided to skip CinemaCon, which will take place April 1-4 in Las Vegas, allegedly pursuing a new strategy for their amazing movie line-up for this year. With movies like Men in Black International, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Zombieland 2, Charlie’s Angels, the Mister Rogers movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Greta Gerwig’s Little Women and the Jumanji sequel, the studios will focus on a day-to-day strategy rather to a big drop one for these films thus skipping this huge event.
This means that we won’t be able to anticipate when the next footage of Spider-Man: Far From Home will drop next, unfortunately. We’ll have to rely on Tom Holland’s already famous slip-ups as we get closer and closer to July. The first trailer for the movie dropped some days ago showing Peter Parker and his friends traveling to Europe, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury return to the MCU and Jake Gyllenhaal’s official debut as Mysterio.
Sony’s change of heart regarding the advertisement for its movies actually plays well with what Kevin Feige, the Russo Brothers, and Marvel Studios are doing for Avengers: Endgame. The secrecy involving the latest of the Avengers’ movies has been astounding. The Endgame name was only revealed in December, after months of speculation and cementing the Russo’s stone-cold-secret-keeping tradition. Also, Feige revealed that advertisement for the movie will only feature the first few minutes of the film, so no one really knows what will happen. This spiked speculation once again among fans which are expectant on what Endgame can bring to the table to further expand the MCU.
While we wait for more on Spider-Man and the MCU, here’s the synopsis for Far From Home:
“Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!”
Spider-Man: Far From Home is directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Micheal Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Laura Harrier, Zach Barack, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, Numan Acar, J. B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii and Hemky Madera.
The film will swing into theaters on July 5, 2019
