While Loxias Crown has never appeared in Marvel Comics before, the site speculates that he will be based on the supervillain Crown aka Hunger who has gone up against both Morbius and Spider-Man in the past. However, it seems this possible version of Crown won’t be a comics-accurate adaptation as the film’s Loxias Crown is a close friend of Morbius who happens to suffer from the same disease that Morbius himself suffers from.
In addition, the site has also revealed that the plot will feature Leto’s Morbius attempting to stop Loxias while also dealing with the challenge of his own bloodlust.
Sony’s Morbius film is currently gearing up to begin production early next year. Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is set to direct from a script written by Netflix’s Lost in Space creators Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster. Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.
Morbius will be based on the Marvel comic Morbius the Living Vampire featuring Leto in the starring role of Dr. Michael Morbius, the popular anti-hero who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101. In the comics, the famed scientist attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease but developed a form of vampirism instead.
