In addition to the standalone films with Tom Holland’s version of Peter Parker, Sony is currently planning a number of projects centered on various Spider-Man characters. These Sony projects include follow-ups to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and a live-action Universe of Marvel Characters that features Tom Hardy’s Venom as well as Jared Leto’s Morbius.
While fans may have been hoping to see new footage or learn more information about these Spider-Man projects, Sony has decided to sit out of San Diego Comic-Con 2019 and will instead promote their upcoming slate at different points over the next year. Sony has become the latest studio to sit out of San Diego Comic-Con this year, with Universal and Warner Bros. also opting to skip the convention.
The outlet notes Sony “could conceivably” return to future Comic-Con’s.
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
