‘Dark Phoenix’: Sophie Turner Reveals One X-Men Actor Walked Off Set During Filming

Jessica Chastain had to help Sophie Turner stand up to another actor during an awkward encounter on the set of the X-Men film Dark Phoenix.

Dark Phoenix, the latest film in the X-Men franchise, is finally coming to theaters this summer. The film’s production has been swarming with controversy due to its heavy reshoots and many release date shifts. During a recent interview with Dark Phoenix star Sophie Turner, she revealed that filming the new X-Men movie didn’t always go too smoothly.

In a recent interview with Glamour, Sophie Turner revealed an interaction on set with a male actor that resulted in him walking off of the set. Apparently, for whatever reason, the actor left the set when it came time for Sophie Turner to say her lines and one of the writers on set had to step up and fulfill the undisclosed male actor’s role. This is what the X-Men star had to say about the moment and how co-star Jessica Chastain helped her through it.

“I actually have a really big problem with not being able to stand up for myself. Especially if I’m aruging against a man. Jessica Chastain [who Sophie worked with on new X-Men film Dark Phoenix] is the one that said it to me, ‘You need to stand up for yourself more!'”

Turner then revealed that she’ll be working on standing up for herself more often in the future.

“She [Jessica] said, ‘Just go and talk to him, go and say something to him!’ I’m a bit of a shy, pushover person, but I’m getting there, I’m working on it.”

“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”

The film is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2019.
