Soundtrack For ‘Suicide Squad’ Debuts At Number One On The Billboard 200

Just like the movie it comes from, the Suicide Squad soundtrack brought in stellar numbers. We had recently reported that the album for the David Ayer-directed movie was on track for a number one debut, and now the results are in. The album hit number one for its debut on the Billboard 200, earning 182,000 equivalent album units. This marks the highest soundtrack debut in the past 18 months. Prior to Suicide Squad, the Fifty Shades of Grey held the top soundtrack spot.

The collection is a mix of genres, including rock, EDM, and rap. Some of the most recognizable names include Lil Wayne, Panic! At the Disco, Eminem, Grimes, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Skrillex and many more. The Suicide Squad movie hit theaters last week, opening to number one and breaking the record for highest August opening with $133.7 million in sales. Not too shabby.

Figuring they’re all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity, while the diabolical Joker (Jared Leto) launches an evil agenda of his own.
